Stage 4: Now We Are Getting Creative Generating and Incubating Ideas/Research/Inquiry
Length of stage: 2-4 weeks Team Time: 3 hours/week
CPS version 6.1™: Use DI’s adopted model of Creative Problem Solving and apply several generating and focusing tools as you:
• Generate Options
Your team will be generating and focusing options for the many elements of their Team Challenge.
Review the Team Challenge: Have team restate sections in their own words
Reach out — Use reference books, field trips, resource people, DI support materials, etc.
Research
Begin to plan what is needed for the Team Challenge Presentation
• Performance skills
• Improvisational Skills
• Use of materials and their properties
• Integration of Side Trips
Continue to do Instant Challenges, applying CPS strategies and tools
Request Clarifications and/or visit the Clarification site and check Clarifications for your Team Challenge
Continue to practice teambuilding
At the end of each meeting, debrief.
Ask team:
• Where are we?
• Are we on track?
• Do we want to keep moving in this direction?
• Do we want to change our goal?
• Are we having fun?
As the Team Manager:
Receive and prepare local Tournament information and forms
Attend Team Manager Training, CPS Toolbox workshop and/or local DI meetings
Check Team Manager Resource site on the DI web site for ideas, help, and activities
Update parents on progress; let them know what you need
